Toyota Prius
Toyota’s fuel-efficient Prius has been significantly updated for 2019. Notably, all-wheel-drive is now available as an option on the Prius, and the trim levels range from base L Eco, midrange LE, well-equipped XLE, and top-end Limited. (The all-wheel-drive system is only available on LE and XLE trims.) Prius customers have a plug-in hybrid option in the Prius Prime, with larger batteries that can provide a range of up to 25 miles on electric-only power, enough for a short urban commute. Both versions have powertrains generating 121 horsepower. The 4-passenger-only Prius Prime offers 3 grades: Plus, Premium, and Advanced. As for fuel economy figures, the Prius Prime gets an EPA-estimated 55 city/53 highway/54 combined miles per gallon while the standard Prius gets an EPA-estimated 54 city/50 highway/52 combined MPG. (L Eco gets 58 city/53 highway/56 combined MPG.) Standard features include bi-LED headlamps, a smart key system, and Toyota Safety Sense P, which includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, and radar cruise control.
